I just finished this classic, and I really liked it, I thought it was beautifully written. I found it to be a bit anti-climatic, and I really couldn't believe how much alcohol the characters in the novel consumed, but it was definitely nicely written. I give it a B+.
Without giving too much away, could the fact that Catherine drank plenty of alcohol while pregnant have anything to do with the way things turned out in the end?
It was World War I, so I guess we have to give them a break for not having the medical knowledge we now know but I mean C'MON! Don't drink while you are pregnant!
