Book Review #3

I didn't just finish reading this, (I have actually read it a few times, the first of which was probably when I was in highschool or Jr. High?) but I was talking to my cousin Sarah on the phone the other day and told her about this book and thought I should do a quick book review of it on here.
This is my number one favorite book. I recommend it to people all the time.
I give this book an A+
This book is just the most perfect book. I read it again right after I had Conner and was reminded of how wonderful it is.
It is the story of a girl on a road trip with her grandparents and as she is driving with them she is telling them a story (which is basically most of the book).
I love this book for the little lessons it teaches and mostly for the touching ending. I love the theme of the strong, unbreakable bond between mother and child.
Grab some tissues because the ending is very touching.

Valentine's Tag

Con and Ken

This is Conner and his only cousin, Kennady. Its an interesting story really...I got pregnant with Conner and about three months after, Melissa got pregnant with Kennady. Only Kennady decided to come THREE MONTHS EARLY and Conner and Ken were born the same week. Kennady came way too early and she really is a miracle kid, and a tough one at that. Corey's mom put a picture of Conner in her incubator while she was in the NICU so she could see him and he could encourage her to get better.
My cousins were an enormous part of my life as a kid...my best friends really. I would say more siblings than cousins! I want so much for Conner and Kennady to have that same blessing. Melissa and I are always talking about what is going on with our kiddos and it seems like they really are kindred spirits, always going thru similar things. There is no doubt in my mind that they are going to be best of friends, and there is no doubt in my mind that they were together in heaven. (Not to get mushy or anything...kay I will stop there!)

I always find myself in awe at how something (someone) so small could change my life so much. I was looking at some of his baby pictures and trying to figure out exactly where he changed from being my baby, to being my little boy. I can't tell where it happened, but looking at his first day compared to now, 10 months later, I am just blown away. He truly is our little miracle. I feel like if I were to die tomorrow I really did get to taste the best experience life has to offer...being a parent...

If you couldn't tell, I tried to post a picture from every month since Conner was born, (altho there are more than one from the hospital). Even after looking at it several times I still can't figure out where his growing up took place :)

Finding Nemo

Ash and I are trying to do more creative, fun things to get the kids out of the house during this awful last leg of Winter. We decided to try out the Living Planet Aquarium, and might I say it was a VERY good idea. I think Ash and I had more fun than the kids did! It was so fun. I can't wait to go there again, I think Corey would really like it even!!

OH!!! AND DID I MENTION I TOUCHED THE WING OF A STING RAY? Ashley couldn't believe I did it, but I sure did. It felt...sorta...gooey. You will have to go try it out for yourself!

Super Bowl

My cousin Jeff and his friend Lizzie (whom I really like) came over for the super bowl last weekend, we were so lucky because my brother Tommy was in town from California for President Hinckley's funeral and was able to watch it with us. (My parents came along too of course). We were insanely excited to see the Giants win.

Conner is ALWAYS interested in Tommy because of his beard, and also, as you can see here, his hair. Kinda funny.

Corey INSISTED on watching the Super Bowl at our house, because pretty much the most important thing in Corey's life right now is "Hi-Def." He flips back and fourth from non-hi-def channels to hi-def channels showing everyone the difference. I personally don't care but I guess its a guy thing.
Just a funny picture illustrating the stress I now undergow when I am at church with Conner. This picture was during a Young Womens activity, I could NOT keep him away from the curtain. It used to be so easy, he would just sit on our laps in church, not make a peep, perfectly content to just sit there. NOT ANYMORE, he is all boy, wanting to crawl and climb on everything. The idea of church just got a whole lot more stressful for me.
So this is what I saw today as I walked into the living room. He is getting so big I just can't believe it. He thought he was so clever, he could play the piano without us helping him.
So after talking to Betsie, I thought, "Hey, what a good idea, bananas and cheerios for breakfast." This is what Conner thought of the banana idea. he did eat the cheerios, but threw all the bananas on the floor. I even gave him a big piece since he loves to hold things and eat them, i thought he might like it, but NOPE. (You know, I can't blame him, I hate bananas...)

Take this test!

You're green, the color of growth and vigor. Good-hearted and giving, you have a knack for finding and bringing out the best in people. Green is the most down-to-earth color in the spectrum — reliable and trustworthy. People know they can count on you to be around in times of need, since your concern for people is genuine and sincere. You take pride in being a good friend. For you, success is measured in terms of personal achievement and growth, not by status or position. Rare as emeralds, greens are wonderful, natural people. It truly is your color!

Sneaky, yes indeed.

So last night Corey and I were sitting on the couch watching TV and since we finally have our house pretty well child proofed we were just letting Conner crawl around and wear himself out before bed. Well we heard this huge crash sound (the bottom drawer or the oven falling on the floor) and we ran in there to find that Conner had on his own opened the bottom drawer of the oven and started getting out the pans. He is so sneaky. I would have NEVER thought he could get that drawer open.

Bath time, ALL the time.

Conner is absolutely obsessed with the bathroom. I have a gate on the bathroom door but sometimes we take it down and the minute he sees us open the door he immediately stops what he is doing and rushes in there as fast as he can. He usually goes straight for the tub and shower curtain. He LOVES to take baths. He would take five a day if I would let him.
